Back in 2014 I attended my first Hukilau Tiki weekender in Fort Lauderdale FL. Unbeknownst to me, the show print I bought was created by Mookie Sato from Japan. I was still pretty early in my Tiki journey then and wasn’t as aware of Mookie’s amazing art as I am now. For all I know, he may have been in attendance at that event too! Ironically, the t-shirt I found at the Mai-Kai Trading Post when I first visited the year prior was also designed by Mookie Sato. So my collection of his work began long before I even realized it.
